Born in communist Romania at a time when jazz was effectively banned, Eduard first heard jazz when Dave Brubeck came to Moscow in 1987. "My brother taped it from TV and I listened nothing else for six months. I soon got hooked on jazz broadcasts on short and medium wave stations, most broadcasting out of what is now the Ukraine, and spent all my money on blank tapes".
